Artist Statement

From the moment I received my first camera as a young boy, I have been fascinated by how every individual sees the same imagery, and chooses to capture it, in remarkably different ways. I have long realized that my way of observing and documenting the world around us — from what I decide to shoot to how I actually proceed in doing so — is unique to me as an artist, which is why I love expressing myself through the medium of photography. With my images, I strive to demonstrate that our world is a continuously fascinating and beautiful place offering endless aesthetic pleasures to those who take the time to observe its nuances intentionally closely. My current project, from which these ten photographs have been culled, is titled Slivers of Life (with the word ‘slivers’ referring to the somewhat atypical dimensions of the images themselves).
