Selected as the 3rd Place Winner of the Emotions and Expressions Art Competition, Yanxi Ren presents work that is both introspective and visually compelling. Her drawings explore the emotional distance between concealment and revelation, using masks, doorways, light, and shadow as symbols for the private self. Ren’s colored pencil works hold a quiet intensity, inviting viewers into moments of uncertainty, reflection, and emotional discovery. Through her careful attention to atmosphere and symbolic detail, she captures the feeling of standing at the edge of what is known and choosing to look inward.

With this painting, I aim to convey the concealment of identity and emotion.the original mask was replaced with a fox mask for symbolic reasons.
