I am uncertain what you would call a “Writers Block” for sculptors but it happens. When it hits it feels like even works that are close to being completed seem out of reach. The motivation and inspiration are put in checkmate by the unwillingness to concede to a perceived mediocrity. Perfection, of course, is never achieved but at least you have the feeling that it is approachable. This particular work illustrates the simple yet winding steps to get back on the creativity trek, to get back to “square one”. Simplicity becomes the driving force and complexity takes the back seat for a time.
Artist Bio
My works begin with a title, I then go about creating that vision or idea using disparate metals and often found objects. I consider my sculptures to be under a category of representational abstractions since they have a specific meaning behind them. My main goal in all of my art is that the viewer contemplates the deeper meaning of what they are looking at.
