Artist Statement
The concept of ‘beauty of solitude’ runs like a thread through his oeuvre, as does the exploration of diversity in the manifestations of beauty. The beauty of solitude lies in the unique and profound experiences it offers, both emotionally and intellectually, that are found in its power to reconnect you with your inner world, fostering a sense of balance, creativity, and peace that can be transformative.
David Degelin is a professional photographer focused on portrait photography using a distinctive fine art photography approach. Photography is his way of dealing with the world, people, stories, places, experiences. essentially it is a therapeutic activity that helps him to survive in a complex world, that is hard to comprehend. Moments of wonder and understanding sustain him in dealing with daily life. Graduating with a Master’s degree in Archaeology and following the post-graduate program of social and cultural anthropology, people play a crucial role in his work. In his street and fine artwork, his relentless struggle and exploration of boundaries, limitations, doubts, obligations, alienation, and solitude play a key role.
